Maldives looks to boost UK tourist arrivals

The Ministry of Tourism has revealed that they are gearing up to boost tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom (UK).

Tourism Minister, Ali Waheed on Friday stated that the ministry is planning to initiate efforts to boost UK tourist arrivals.

After meeting with the Maldivian Ambassador to the UK, Dr. Farhanaz Faisal, Minister Ali Waheed said a "Maldivian Night" with Maldivian artists, foreign investors and British politicians will be conducted ahead of World Travel Market 2020.

He revealed that the embassy will be organizing further marketing events and activities in various regions of UK, with the collaboration of Maldivian artists.

In addition to "Maldivian Night", discussions were held regarding more elaborate World Tourism Day 2020 celebrations, including promoting the world record attempt event that will be held in Maldives during Tourism Week.

According to the Tourism Ministry's most recently publicized statistics, 90,965 tourists visited the Maldives from UK by September this year. This is a 9.2% increase in tourist arrivals compared to last year.
