Decision made not to broadcast trials before policy review

Criminal Court has made the decision not to live telecast any trials before reviewing and publicizing the current policy of live broadcasting.

Criminal Court Thursday said the court would continue to telecast the trials that were being broadcast prior to the decision, if both the prosecution and the defense have no objections.

While the only case being telecast live is that of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom's money laundering trial, Criminal Court said its Judges' Council has made the decision to seek the consent of both parties before commencing the hearing slated for November 17.
