MIFCO exports increase by 21%

Managing Director of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO), Ismail Fauzee has revealed that fish exports increased by 21% during the third quarter of 2019.

Speaking at the ceremony held in Farukolhufushi to mark the company's 26th anniversary, Ismail said the amount of exports in the third quarter of the year increased by 21% compared to the same period last year. The amount of fish purchased by the company also increased by 70%, said Ismail.

Ismail added that MIFCO is undertaking efforts to further develop and expand the company and its services.

"We are working to increase MIFCO's total capacity to solve difficulties faced by fishermen in the north, while also developing the facilities in our fish processing centers," Ismail said.

He also said that they were working on developing the Addu Fisheries Complex, and establishing new facilities at the Felivaru Factory.
