MP Hussein rejoins PPM

Fares-Maathoda MP Hussein Mohamed Latheef has once again joined opposing Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

Latheef officially joined the party at a rally held Friday night by the Progressive Coalition. He signed and handed over the party membership former as a 'surprise' to former President Yameen Abdul Gayyoom, he said.

Hussein was a member of the 18th Parliament as a PPM member. He was a close aide of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom.

However, after President Yameen lost the 2018 presidential election, MP Hussein voiced his approval against President Yameen and said it was time for a change in the party's leadership. He later joined Jumhooree Party (JP).

Hussain contested for the 19th Parliament and won a seat as an independent candidate. Until Friday night, he was not not affiliated with any political parties and remained an independent candidate.
