An arrest has been made in the case where a man was assaulted with a knife and thrown into the ocean.
The police earlier said the 26-year old man from Maduvvary island was attacked with a knife on a fishing vessel. The man was thrown overboard following the assault, after which he swam to Maalhos island where he received help. Maalhos Council said was discovered around 3 am early Friday by two locals and was taken to the Health Centre for treatment. He was later transported to state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) with MNDF assistance. The man is said to be in critical condition.
The police said a man who was on the vessel at the time of the attack has been arrested. No further details were disclosed.
