Heritage Ministry has handed over the maintenance of the Friday Mosque Minaret 'Munnaaru' and the wells within the mosque grounds to STELCO.
State Minister of the Heritage Ministry, Mohamed Thoriq and Managing Director of STELCO, Hassan Mughnee signed the agreement at a ceremony held in STELCO on Tuesday. The contract period is for four years and the work will be closely monitored closely by the Heritage Ministry.
Under the agreement, the minaret and the water wells in mosque grounds will be cleaned. The work will commence on Saturday.
Efforts to renovate Friday Mosque with the collaboration of the Indian government will officially initiate in November. The project is to be completed within a period of two years.
