President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed departed to United Arab Emirates (UAE)'s Abu Dhabi on Friday.
This is the first time President Solih and Speaker Nasheed are travelling abroad together.
President Solih and Nasheed are travelling to Abu Dhabi at the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. During the visit, discussions on further enhancing the bilateral relations between UAE and Maldives are set to take place.
The visit is sponsored by the government of Abu Dhabi. President Solih and Nasheed departed to UAE on a private jet. It has been reported that the President and Speaker were invited to attend an auto race taking place on Sunday.
President Solih has previously visited UAE.
