State PR firm, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has launched a joint marketing campaign with one of the world's biggest travel platforms 'TripAdvisor' to promote the Maldives.
MMPRC said the campaign will feature the Maldives to audiences in the UK, Saudi Arabia, Russia, India, Italy and China. The archipelago will be advertised on the TripAdvisor website, said MMPRC.
Under the campaign, the natural beauty of the island nation, and different activities offered in the country will be featured to potential tourists, and will be advertised as a popular tourist destination.
'TripAdvisor' is one of the largest travel websites in the world. The website has an audience of over 100 million viewers, and publishes reviews of different travel-related products. The popular platform lists hotels, restaurants and resorts from all over the world, and supports booking via the website. TripAdvisor is available in 49 markets and 28 languages.
MMPRC said Maldivian tourism will flourish further through similar campaigns. While the marketing firm has conducted 17 joint campaigns this year, MMPRC has carried out fairs, roadshows, and global campaigns through modern digital platforms.
The number of tourists that visited the Maldives increased by 14.5% by the end of October and the country welcomed its 1.5 millionth tourist in November.
