In a drug operation conducted by the police, they have searched five households and arrested 29 people. The police said in the drug operation that they have searched four households this month and tonight they have searched another household. Tonight they searched M.Midhilige.
In the current drug raid, so far they have searched M.Fashion Mead, M.Naadhee Irumatheebai, M.Velirange, and G.Memoryvilla.
They searched M.Fashion Mead on the 5th of this month and arrested 11 people from the house. M.Naadhee Irumatheebai 12th of this month and four people were arrested from that house.
The police searched H.Velirange on the 16th night of this month and they arrested ten people, G.Memoryvilla on the 18th of this month and four people were arrested from that house.
The current drug raid operation is targeted to households that are involved in the drug business in ‘café’s style’ which are linked to members of a drug business network, said the police.
The police noted that the offenders carry on these drug businesses for a financial gain with the consent of the household owners or the lessors. The police further note that the purpose of this operation is to make the household owners or the lessors responsible or to conduct a criminal investigation on the issue and take actions against them. Hence, in that respect, they have searched five households, said Maldives Police Services.
The police said that they have repeatedly searched these householders on such matters.
