Police exhibit exemplary conduct in helping tourist family

Maldives Police Services have shown exemplary conduct in helping a Hungarian family in trouble due to a failed hotel booking.

Police said that the family arrived in Maldives on Saturday, after pre-booking through a travel agent earlier around January this year. Officers stated that the agent had revealed that payment had not been made to the hotel after the family's arrival in the country.

However, the family had already paid the agent upfront and received an email confirming the hotel booking.

Shortly after the tourist family revealed the situation, Police stated that they ensued efforts to present the matter to relevant government authorities.

After receiving notice of the incident, the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the Police and Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), arranged accommodations for the family at a resort in Male' atoll.

Police have called out to travel agents to pay heed to the situation and take caution to avoid the repetition of such misconduct. The matter is being further investigated, Police added.
