Aminath Abdulla Didi appointed as Maldives' first Consul General

Aminath Abdulla Didi has been appointed as the Maldives' first Consul General.

Ms. Aminath was appointed as the Consul General of the Maldivian consulate in Trivananthapuram, India. The letter of appointment was handed over to Ms. Aminath by Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid on Sunday.

Ms. Aminath is the first Consul General to be appointed to a Maldives Consulate. Until her appointment, Ms. Aminath worked as the Permanent Secretary at the Foreign Ministry. She has also served as a director and other positions at the Foreign Ministry, and has been working in the diplomatic field for 17 years.

Consul General Aminath Abdulla Didi attained her Bachelors Degree in Business Management from Bangalore University, India. She holds a Masters Degree in International Relations from Monash University, Australia.

While a woman has been appointed as the first Consul General at the first Maldivian Consulate to be established abroad, eight out of 17 Maldivian diplomatic missions established established in foreign countries are headed by women.
