Forms for primary will be collected even tomorrow: MDP

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has said that forms can be submitted even tomorrow to contest in the MDP Primary for the local council election.

MDP has opened the application to contest for getting party tickets in the city council, atoll council and island council.
To get party tickets application forms have to be filled for the respective constituency and should be submitted to party secretariat by 10th January 2020 with the other relevant documents.

According to MDP, even though tomorrow is Friday the forms will be collected between 14 to 18 hrs in the head office of MDP.

The person contesting in MDP Primary for the local council election has to include a document showing there is support with the application.

MDP has decided to hold its primary on 31st January 2020.

980 officials will be elected in the upcoming local council elections slated for April 4, 2020, and women will occupy 33 % of the councils as per recent amendments to the Decentralization Act.
