Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has stated that he looks forward to working closely with China this year.
In response to a tweet posted by Chinese Ambassador to Maldives Zhang Lizhong on the new eye centre being set-up in Hulhumale under Chinese aid, Minister Shahid said the project is another positive development to the Maldives-China relationship.
He added that he looks forward to working even more closely this year on the project, and other such mutually beneficial projects.
Replying to the foreign minister, Ambassador Zhang said he believes the joint of the two governments and people to people exchanges will bring more good things, and more concrete mutual benefit.
The eye centre being developed in Hulhumale' is expected to be operational mid-January. The centre is the first of its kind in Maldives, fully funded and supported by the government of China.
