Chinese Foreign Minister concludes visit to the Maldives

State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi concluded his two-day official visit to the Maldives and departed to China on Saturday.

Five key agreements were signed between China and Maldives during the minister's visit, one of which allows Maldivians to travel to China on a 30-day visa free basis, once the pandemic restrictions have been lifted.

During the visit, the State Councilor paid a courtesy call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. He also led the Chinese Delegation at the bilateral discussions held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, State Councilor Wang Yi and Foreign Minister Shahid unveiled the official logo symbolising the occasion.
