The work is underway to accredit government-owned hospital, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in line with the international standards.
Work has been commenced to improve the services in line with the guidelines of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Health Care Providers (NABH) and National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).
The work is being carried out in consultation with ACME India and NABH and NABL standards are accredited by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua). Furthermore, NABH is a founder member of the Asian Society for Quality in Health Care, said IGMH.
The benchmarks of NABH and NABL are in line with international standards such as the Australian Council on Health Care Standards and Canadian Hospital.
IGMH said that the accreditation is for the quality improvement of the health care services provided by the hospital, to be up to international standards, make the services provided by the hospital easy access to the public and to sustain services provided by the hospital up to international standard.
These include maintaining the equipment at certain standards, auditing the hospital’s services regularly, and sustaining such a standard will ensure the safety and security of the patients as well as help to gain their trust, said IGMH.
