The investigation period of the murder case of taxi driver Qasim is extended.
As per criminal law, the investigation of a criminal case has to be completed within 30 days the court makes a decision with regard to the arrest of the criminal.
The arrested is 21-year-old Adhuham Adam from Lh. Hinnavaru. He was arrested and the remand period was extended on the 20th of December. Therefore, the period stipulated in the criminal law will come to an end on Monday.
However, the Police investigation is not complete yet. Hence, the Prosecutor General Office (PGO) has extended the investigation period for an additional 15 days.
The PGO has the authority to extend the period if the Police requested for such an extension.
The Police said that Adhuham has said that his intention was to rob Qasim and that he attacked with a knife when his attempt to rob was failed. And he further said that he roamed around with a knife to rob. He robs to get money for drugs and to fulfil other needs.
The Police said that Adhuham has confessed of killing Qasim, in the Police investigation and in the court. In addition to Adhuham’s confession, the Police has said that they have found several evidences in their investigation.
