Minister of Home Affairs Imram Abdullah has said that with the appointment of the new Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu, the correctional work of jails will be accelerated.
The former Commissioner of Prisons Abdulla Munaz was expelled, and Inspector of Correctional Service Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu is appointed as the Commissioner of Prisons on Tuesday.
Later in a tweet Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla stated that the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has fulfilled the vow of correctional service of jails and has assigned the task of implementing Jails Audit Recommendations to the new Commissioner.
"...And I thank the former CP Munaz for his service to the Correctional Services”, said Minister in the tweet.
Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu had worked as a member of the Commission that audited jails, prior to working as Inspector of Corrections.
Munaz was appointed as the Commissioner of Prisons on 25th of December 2018. He was expelled precipitously on Tuesday. Lately, many people have been raising concern over the condition of prisons.
