Test flight landed at Sh. Funadhoo Airport on Friday

A test flight landed at Sh. Funadhoo Airport on Friday successive to completion of the airport.

Ahmed Faiz, MP of Funadhoo constituency said speaking to AVAS, the flight was scheduled to land at Funadhoo Airport at 7:30 hours on Friday morning. The community of the whole atoll were gathered at the airport to welcome the first flight.

MP Faiz said that once the news of test flight landing on Friday was spread, the public took the initiative and cleaned the airport area and hoisted flags as well.

He said that airport is linked to the hope of the whole island and that there is not a single person that was not involved - irrespective of the individual and colour people were united to decorate and welcome the flight.

MP Faiz further said that once that flight lands and after the welcome ceremony the public will gather in one place and have morning breakfast. The breakfast was prepared by individual households of the island on their own expense - arranged to show the unity and the bond of the public.

The airport that was constructed by MTCC-plans were made to open it last year. However, due to delays in completing the airport, the opening was postponed. Funadhoo Airport was built reclaiming 40 hectors from the sea.
