Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) on Monday commenced a survey to establish a port communication system.
The survey program is conducted by Asian Development Bank (ADB)'s South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) to establish port communication systems in South Asia's commercial harbours.
The survey will be conducted over a period of three days from January 27 to 29, and three consultants from SASEC are heading the program.
Speaking at a ceremony held to kick off the survey program, Managing Director of MPL Shahid Ali said the purpose of the survey is to figure out a way to integrate information of all stakeholders and businesses into a single platform.
While most advanced ports across the world use such a system, the establishment of a port communication network would link and interconnect MPL with other commercial harbours and relevant government authorities. This will become a part of the administration's single window program, said Shahid.
