MDP Primary: Galolhu central votes nullified

Main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has nullified the primary results of Galolhu Central constituency.

While there were several issues in the MDP Primary held Friday associated to the Galolhu central constituency, the party has now made the decision to hold re-elections for the constituency.

The party has revealed that the ballot boxes contained votes cast under the names of people that had not been present at the voting center. As the number is high enough to affect the final result, the decision was made to nullify the votes and hold a re-election.

The party also nullified the results of the Ga. atoll council vote, and that of Villingili, Dhaandhoo and Kolamaafushi island council. MDP has stated that the re-elections of these constituencies will be held Friday.
