A man has been taken to the hospital after falling down the air shaft of a building in capital Male'.
The police said they received reports that a man had fallen into the air shaft of a building in Henveiru ward from the seventh storey of the building around 1430hrs on Monday. The Bangladeshi national sustained serious injuries, and is being treated at privately run ADK Hospital, said the police.
According to sources, the expatriate worker fell when the ropes holding a suspended bosun's chair he was using snapped and gave away. The man fell all the way down to the first floor slab, it was reported. While he had no visible injuries other than some cuts to his body and tongue, he is currently receiving treatment in the emergency room, said the police.
The police are investigating the matter further.
