Govt seeks info on those who did not receive housing under Veshifahi program

The Housing Ministry is seeking information on those who received letters of guarantee for housing under the Veshifahu housing scheme and has not received housing as promised.

An announcement issued by the Housing Ministry on Monday said the ministry is seeking the information in order to resolve the issue faced by the applicants. Full information on all cases are necessary to move forward towards a solution, said the ministry.

In this regard, the government is seeking information on those who were guaranteed flats from Arabiyya flats and Gaakoshi flats, in addition to those who received guarantee of land from Hulhumale' in exchange for giving up their plots in Male'.

The ministry requested them to send in their information to the ministry along with copies of their guarantee letters, ID card copies, and a registry copy of the building being exchanged for land by March 2.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) earlier this month had announced that those who did not receive housing under the Veshifahi program initiated ten years ago will receive housing within the current year.

While delivering his presidential address at the Parliament's inaugural session this month, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had also promised to resolve the issues for those that did not receive housing under the program.
