Banks to remain open on 19, 23, 26 March

Central Bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has revealed that the central bank as well as other banks will be open on 19, 23 and 26 March despite the temporary closure of government offices.

A press statement released by MMA said banking services will be available from the central bank from 9.30 am until 11.30 am on the specified dates. Small change will be received and issued between 9.30 am and 11.00 am, said MMA.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih ordered all government offices to be closed from 19 to 26 March as a precaution against the spread of the global pandemic COVID-19. Despite the temporary closure of government offices during this period, the provision of all essential services to the public will continue without interruption, by allowing the minimum number of employees necessary to carry out these functions, to come into work at the relevant institutions and agencies, said the President's Office.
