Police arrests employee of Adhaaran for threatening to burn down resort

The Police are investigating a case of an employee of Adhaaran Prestige Vaadhoo Resort, threatening that he will burn down the resort, for not allowing him to depart from the resort.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has banned travels between resorts and the inhabited islands of the Maldives to contain the spread Covid-19. Besides, HPA has informed, actions will be taken against those who violate the restrictions imposed due to Covid-19.

The police said, on Wednesday an employee of Adhaaaran Prestige Vaadhoo Resort requested the management of the resort that he wants to depart from the resort to see a doctor. However, the management said they cannot grant permission against the restrictions imposed by HPA. The Police said they have been reported about his verbal confrontation with the management and threatening to burn down the resort, having been upset with the management.

Regarding the issues, the police have arrested a 40-year-old Maldivian man in the resort.

The police revealed the Maafushi magistrate court had issued 15-day remand period for his arrest.
