COVID-19: Patients in treatment at Velidhoo quarantine facility

The government has revealed that the three people currently being treated for COVID-19 are at the quarantine facility established at the Aa. Velidhoo Resort.

16 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives thus far. This includes two Italians who have since departed from the country. The country has recorded 11 recoveries, and the number of active cases is currently 3. The recovered patients are still in quarantine facilities for 30-days monitoring.

The active cases include one Maldivian, the only local who has tested positive for the virus in the Maldives thus far. The 38-year old man arrived in the Maldives on March 22 from the United Kingdom, and was tested for COVID-19 on March 25 upon developing symptoms of the virus. He was confirmed to have the virus on Friday. The remaining two patients are tourists who were holidaying in Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort. All three are currently at the quarantine facility in Velidhoo, the government spokesperson on COVID-19 related matters revealed on Saturday.

Mabrook further revealed that the patients who were being treated at state-run Dharumavantha Hospital in capital Male' have now recovered from the illness. However, they will remain at the hospital for a 14-day period as per protocol, said Mabrook.
