Telecommunication Authority has urged the public not to use signal boosters and repeaters to enhance the mobile signals.
The authority said some people have been recently using mobile signal boosters and repeaters to enhance signals. Using such powerful repeaters will strengthen the signal of the venue that the device is installed at but will weakens signal of the surrounding area. As a result, people living in the surrounding area will face difficulties because of the weak signal, said the authority.
Therefore, the authority advised the public not to install such boosters and repeaters on their own.
The authority further asked to inform the particular service provider of any issues with signal and connectivity, and the service providers will work to address the issues. The authority has already held discussions with service providers regarding the issue, they added.
Telecommunication Authority requested the public to inform the authority if the issues remain unresolved.
