Curfew imposed on Male' area lifted

The curfew imposed on Male', Villimale' and Hulhumale' has been lifted.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) had announced a three-hour curfew in the Mae' area as a precautionary measure against COVID-19 under the declaration of public health emergency status. Public transportation services were also suspended during the curfew hours from 1700 hrs to 2000 hrs.

HPA said the curfew was lifted effective 1700 hrs on Thursday. However, restrictions on congregations of more than three people being out in public during all hours still remain in place, said HPA.

Although the curfew has been lifted, arrangements to practice social distancing must be implemented in all public areas such as local markets, shops, offices and banks, instructed HPA.
