Maldives Blood Services (MBS) is seeking public assistance in providing blood to thalassemia patients as they are facing some challenges in obtaining blood during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
MBS Sunday said they have low supplies of blood, especially blood types O+ and B+. MBS urged the public to donate blood, their second such plea since the COVID-19 outbreak.
According to MBS, those who wish to donate the blood can visit MBS between 0800 to 1500 hours on weekdays.
There was an adequate response to MBS' call for blood donations earlier last month. Political parties and several NGOs initiated blood donation programmes in response to the plea.
