The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has confirmed the first positive case of COVID-19 in the capital Male' City. This is the first time a person tested positive in a residential island of Maldives,
HPA said a Maldivian national who presented to Male' Flu clinic in Senahiya Military Hospital on Tuesday tested positive for the virus, and the person is currently being transferred to an isolation facility. The new patient has no recent travel history, said HPA. Contact tracing is currently ongoing, HPA confirmed.
While 21 people have now tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives, this is the sixth Maldivian to test positive for the disease.
