COVID-19: Govt establishes 10 online clinics

The government has established online clinical services in liaison with the government’s insurance company Aasandha and other healthcare providers. The arrangements were made due to Male' City being placed under lockdown after the detection of a person who has contracted COVID-19 in the capital city.

According to Aasandha Company, nine clinics including Senahiya Military Hospital and ADK Hospital in Male’ and a centre in Addu has been established as online clinics.

Aasandha Company urged to prioritise safety in this critical situation and abide by the relevant authorities’ instructions.

Following the detection of the first local transmission case in the Maldives, 54 people who had direct contact with the patient has been identified and isolated. 50 more people have been identified as secondary contacts and have been instructed to be self-quarantined at home. Two direct contacts have now been confirmed positive for the virus.

The capital Male’ is now placed in 24-hour lockdown. Entry and exit from Male’, the suburbs Hulhumale’, Vilimale’, Gulhifalhu, and Thilafushi have been restriction. Public transportation has also been halted.
