Authorities urge to visit hospital in emergency situations

Health authorities have urged those who face medical emergencies to visit a hospital and seek treatment.

Doctors have been urging the public to avoid visiting hospitals during the current COVID-19 pandemic unless absolutely necessary. However, speaking at a news briefing held Saturday at the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), main government hospital, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH)'s doctor, Moosa Murad said those that require emergency medical attention must visit the hospital instead of waiting until their condition worsens even further. Dr Murad said despite the fact that doctors are busy with attending to COVID-19 patients, emergency services are being provided 24 hours.

Dr. Murad said doctors are always at standby to attend to such emergencies, and said although health officials advise against visiting the hospital for minor medical conditions, patients should visit the hospital without delay in emergency health conditions, and ambulance services will be available for such situations.

“Do not wait until the health condition worsens, we recommend that you visit the hospital in case of emergencies” said Dr Murad.
