Turkish Airlines, SkyUp arrange special flights to the Maldives

Turkish Airlines and SkyUp Airlines are arranging special flights to the Maldives.

Turkish Airlines operated direct flights to the Maldives before the lockdown was imposed in the archipelago due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The special flight arranged by the airline is scheduled to arrive in the Maldives on May 5. The flight arranged by SkyUp Airlines will arrive on May 8.

The Tourism Ministry said PQ-5906 of SkyUp Airlines arriving from Ukraine will evacuate expatriates and tourists stranded in the Maldives. Those who wish to leave the country via the flight are instructed to inform the Tourism Ministry.

The Maldives suspended issuing on-arrival visas and closed its borders late March as a precautionary measure against the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, many countries have been arranging repatriation flights to evacuate their citizens.
