Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has revealed that ferry services between Male' and Villimale' will be resumed after throughly disinfecting the ferry terminals.
Even though the greater Male’ region has been placed in lockdown, seven rounds of ferry trips are made between the mainland Male’ and Villimale’, every day. However, ferry service between Male' and Villimale' were halted after an employee working at the ferry terminal tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.
MTCC said that they are working to resume the service after obtaining permission from Health Protection Agency and disinfecting the terminal in Male’ and Villimale’.
According to MTCC, seven employees working at the terminal have been placed in quarantine in addition to the infected employee. The eight people have been replaced by other employees.
CEO of MTCC, Adam Zahir on Wednesday said a guideline has been developed to ensure safety and security of the frontline workers of the company.
