COVID-19: ARC extends aid to 382 children in 10 islands

ARC has provided essential food supplies for 382 children in 10 islands that were under ‘red alert’ due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The NGO is a non-partisan organisation that was founded in the Maldives to promote the rights of children. It focuses on health, education, safety and wellbeing of children. The NGO has been working closely with children’s shelters and promoting the rights of children in national and international platforms. Ms. Zeneesha Zaki, who served as a Gender Minister in the former administration is a key founding member and plays an active role in running the NGO.

ARC said on Monday that they initiated the “ARC Aid” programme to extend aid for the families and children that are facing adverse effects of COVID-19.

ARC extended aid to:
• 144 children in Male’ City
• 54 children in Kulhudhuffushi City
• 14 children in Sh. Narudhoo
• Two children in Ha. Thakandhoo
• 14 children in Sh. Maaungoodhoo
• 31 children in N. Manadhoo
• 33 children in K. Thulusdhoo
• 30 children in K. Himmafushi
• 55 children in Sh. Milandhoo

Under the programme, over 382 children and families have been provided with food supplies such as rice, flour, peas, milk, fish cans, eggs and canned goods. The aid was also provided to single parents and families with disabled children.
