Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated that a major part of the airport construction work of the island, Ha. Hoarafushi has been completed.
MTCC on Thursday said the construction work of the airport is proceeding without any interruption and that 83% of the work has been completed. Presently, the paving of the runway is ongoing, said MTCC.
The airport will consist of 1200-meter runway, 8635 cubic meters of the apron and a taxiway. A 9473 cubic meter parking area and 1718 cubic meters of fire extinguishing road is also being developed as part of the project.
Last August, 842,200 cubic meters of land was reclaimed to develop the airport. The revetment work of the area was completed in March this year.
According to MTCC, the project will reach completion in September.
