A test flight is scheduled to land at GDh. Faresmathoda Airport on Monday.

The national airline Maldivian's test flight will land at the newly developed airport on Monday evening.

The Faresmathoda Airport is the third airport to be built in the Gaafu Dhaalu atoll. MTCC was awarded the airport development contract on November 10, 2020, for MVR 144 million with a completion date of 600 days.

The airport has a 1,200-metre runway, an apron, a taxiway, a modern terminal, a fire building, service roads, and other facilities for a domestic airport. The government has scheduled the official opening of the airport for March 15.

In addition to the Faresmathoda Airport, MTCC was also awarded the development of airports in M. Muli, R. Alifushi, and F. Magoodhoo. The government is also working with other contractors to develop airports in HDh. Makunudhoo, S. Bileffahi, B. Thulhaadhoo, Th. Vilufushi, and an unspecified location in R. atoll.
