The Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Thursday said the Maldives recorded 14 new cases of COVID-19 over a period of 24 hours.
HPA said the new cases are of five Maldivian nationals, eight Bangladeshi nationals and one Sri Lankan national. This brings the total number of infections in the archipelago to 1976.
Authorities also reported 32 new recoveries on Thursday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1153; more than half of total positive cases.
According to HPA, 33,018 samples have been tested for COVID-19 until now. 306 people are in quarantine and 797 individuals are in isolation. The Maldives have recorded eight COVID-19 fatalities to date: four elderly Maldivian nationals and four Bangladeshi expatriates.
