Islamic Ministry has announced that the Friday congregational prayers will be resumed in the capital city of Male’ effective from July 10. It has been more than three months since the Friday congregational prayers have been halted in the capital region as a precautionary measure against COVID-19.
The daily congregational prayers in Male’ City were resumed last week after the number of positive cases began declining in the capital. However, the Friday congregational prayers remained cancelled. The decision was made as a safety measure after consultation with the Supreme Council of Fatwa, religious scholars and doctors.
Islamic Ministry urges to take own prayer mats to the mosques, and not stay back in the mosques after the prayers. It also warned against greeting each other by handshaking and reading the books in the mosques.
