Two COVID-19 treatment centres have been established in L. Gan and Ga. Vilingili.
The two centres were inaugurated at a virtual ceremony held by the Health Ministry on Tuesday night. The Villigili treatment Centre is facilitated with 23 ICU beds and ventilator treatment service. The Centre in Gan is accommodated with 20 ICU beds, 15 beds for isolation, and 12 beds for people to be placed in quarantine. Rach Centre is set-up with COVID-19 testing facilities.
Health Minister Abdulla Ameen, Director General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru, and senior officials of the health sector participated in the opening ceremony held on Tuesday night. Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail participated as the acting Tourism Minister.
The state has decided to open such facilities in five regions on of the Maldives. Each facility is equipped with at least 20-bed ICU and 30 beds for isolation.
