President of the Elections Commission, Ahmed Shareef Adam has called on political parties not to encourage behaviour and action that would create public unrest.
The commissioner made the statement on Twitter after a participant of a TV programme aired by Channel 13 called for acts of terrorism to be carried out against Maldives President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Channel 13 is largely believed to be a media wing of the opposing Progressive Party of the Maldives, PPM.
Maldives Police Service and the Maldives Broadcasting Commission are currently investigating the matter. EC’s President previously worked at Channel 13 as its CEO for many years.
