Maldives’ population has increased to 500,000, National Bureau of Statistics has said.
Statistics on the 2020 Population Estimate released by the bureau on the occasion of World Population Day show the current population of the Maldives is 557,426. Out of this, 40.8 percent of the population reside in the capital Male’, which amounts to 227,584 people. The largest population resides in the Male’atoll, with a population of 41,381.
The second largest population lives in southernmost Addu atoll, with a total population of 26,635. Vaavu atoll has the smallest population with only 2,688 residing in the atoll.
