Khazakhstan’s flag carrier, Air Astana will begin operation to the Maldives in December.
Aviators Maldives said Air Astana will begin direct regular flights to the Maldives from Almaty starting 5th December. The airline’s brand new Airbus, A321LR will be used for operation, said Aviators. The airline is to operate two flights a week on Wendesday’s and Thursday’s.
Khazakhstan is situated in the Central Asia. The Maldives enjoys a large number of arrivals from the region. The commencement of flights between Khazakhstan and Maldives will likely boost the number of tourist arrivals in the Maldives.
The Maldives closed its borders to tourists on March 27 as a precautionary measure against COVID-19. The tourism dependent archipelago reopened its borders on July 15, and the number of arrivals have been steadily increasing since then.
