A help desk has been established at Velana International Airport (VIA) to give out information on the guidelines established by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) and the Tourism Ministry regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Tourism Ministry said the desk was set up at the country’s main international airport to create awareness among tourist arrivals on the COVID-19 pandemic guidelines, and to assist in communications between tourists and health authorities.
The ministry said travel agents can be reached via the help desk, and any issues that arise regarding stays at local guest houses, safaris, resorts and hotels will be quickly resolved. Assistance will also be provided on any other issues that a tourist may face.
The help desk will also provide assistance in communications with Maldives Airports Company Limited as well as Maldives Immigration and Customs, said the ministry. It added that the establishment of the help desk would help to ensure the safety of tourists, and encourage them to adhere to HPA’s guidelines during their stay.
