Pres appoints high commissioners to Bangladesh, Singapore

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has accredited Ibrahim Shaheeb and Shiruzimath Sameer as the High Commissioner to the Republic of Singapore, High Commissioner to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, respectively. The President also appointed Aishath Shaan Shakir as the Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The accreditation ceremony took place at the President’s Office on Sunday.

The newly appointed High Commissioner to the Republic of Singapore, Ibrahim Shaheeb previously served as the Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Shaheeb also previously held the positions of Additional Secretary, Permanent Secretary and Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has a Master in Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Development Studies from the Australian National University, Canberra.

Shiruzimath Sameer, appointed as the High Commissioner to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh today, previously held the position of Additional Secretary for East and Central Asia Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She also previously held the position of Minister-Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of the Maldives in Germany. She attained her Master of Social Science in Strategy and Diplomacy at the National University of Malaysia/Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations, Malaysia.

The newly appointed Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aishath Shaan Shakir previously held the position of Maldives’ High Commissioner to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. She previously held the positions of Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia, and Deputy Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in addition to other top positions at the Ministry.
