The elimination of tariff on Maldivian fish exports to the United Kingdom has been discussed between the two countries. The discussions took place during a virtual call between Maldives’ Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and Minister of State (Minister for South Asia and Commonwealth) at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom, Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon on Wednesday.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Minister Shahid and Lord Ahmad discussed elimination of tariff on Maldivian fish exports to the United Kingdom during the meeting. They also spoke about cooperation at the upcoming Climate Ambition Summit and the COP26. Both Ministers also discussed further cooperation in areas of mutual interest at the 2021 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
Lord Ahmad thanked the Minister for accepting the call and for the continuous cooperation with the United Kingdom in areas of mutual interest such as climate change and counter terrorism. The Ministers further expressed confidence in continued cooperation and support between the two countries bilaterally and internationally in the future.
