Over 18,000 tourist arrivals recorded thus far this month

The Maldives has welcomed a large number of tourists thus far in November.

Statistics show 18,723 tourists have visited the Maldives thus far this November. The figure is the number of tourists who visited the archipelago from November 1 to November 18.

Most visitors arrived from Russia, with 12,961 arrivals recorded from the country. This corresponds to 21.9 percent of all tourist arrivals since the Maldives reopened its borders mid-July.

The second-most number of tourists arrived from India, with 5,449 arrivals recorded from the neighbouring nation. While 4,745 tourists arrived from the United Kingdom during this period, 4,396 tourists arrived from the United States. The number of arrivals from UAE was at 4051 while 3,104 tourists from Germany and 2,236 tourists from Ukraine visited the Maldives during this period.

1,752 tourists visited the Maldives in July when the tourism-dependent archipelago first reopened its doors to tourists. The number increased to 7,628 in August and 9,538 tourist visited the Maldives in September. The figure more than doubled in October with 21,515 tourist arrivals.

The total number of tourists that have visited the Maldives since the beginning of the year is 441,952, out of which 382,760 tourists visited prior to the border closure. The number of arrivals recorded since border reopening is at 59,105.
