Shahubaan Fahmy has been elected as the President of the Maldives Media Council, MMC. Shahubaan is a journalist from local channel, Sangu TV.
Council members Ali Hussain and Mohamed Shafaau also ran for the post of MMC President. Shahubaan bagged six votes while Ali Hussain and Shafaau received five and three votes respectively.
Chief Editor of Sangu TV, Hussain Sageef was elected as the Vice President of the council. He was appointed as the VP by default as no other persons had competed for the post.
