The government is seeking guest houses to be used as quarantine facilities to house resort staff and tourists who test positive for COVID-19.
The Tourism Ministry said three guest houses and a hotel will be used as quarantine facilities from reclaimed suburb, Hulhumale’ to quarantine and isolate resort staff and tourists who test positive for the virus, and those in direct contact with positive cases. Those interested in leasing their guesthouses for the purposes have been instructed to submit their proposals to the ministry by February 10.
The number of COVID-19 cases registered in the Maldives have been increasing over the past week. While 118 positive cases were recorded on Friday, the country has been registering over 100 positive cases everyday for the past five days. 1,492 positive cases are currently active.
