The duration of the vehicle ban imposed in the Greater Male’ Region has been extended.
The vehicle ban was previously effective from 8:30 pm until 04:30 pm. However, the hours have now been extended from 6pm until 6am.
Those exempt from the vehicle ban include MNDF and police officers, employees at health care institutions, ambulances, and those carrying the HEalth Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC)’s permit and those seeking emergency medical care.
The number of COVID-19 cases have been increasing dramatically over the past few weeks. While the number of hospitalisations is currently above 200, 2,302 cases are active.
The government on Friday introduced new restrictions, including prohibiting gatherings of over ten people in the Greater Male’ Region. Schools will be holding classes for grades 1 to 6 online for a period of two weeks.
