Vaccine program to be carried out at night during Ramadan

The Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has stated that the COVID-19 vaccine program will be carried out at night during the Holy month of Ramadan.

The Maldives commenced its COVID-19 vaccine program on February 1st. Since then, over 165,000 people have received the first dose of the vaccine. The first dose will be administered until 15th March after which the program to administer the second dose of vaccine will begin. The second dose is administered to individuals 8 weeks from the date they received the initial dose of the vaccine.

HEOC’s Spokesperson Dr. Fathmath Nazla Rafeeq said the vaccine program will be carried out even during the upcoming month of Ramadan without interruption. However, changes will be brought to the timings, and the program will be conducted only during the night hours, said Dr. Nazla. The details of the timings and locations will be announced at a later date, said Dr. Nazla.
